ETOX Alumna Catherine Gibbons quoted in the news

The Center for Public Integrity published an article today discussing delays in the evaluation of chemicals that are occurring in the EPA.  ETOX alumna Catherine Gibbons who works in the EPA's IRIS Program is briefly quoted.  The article can be found at the CPI website.  A tip of our hat to Catherine.  It is a pleasure to see her quoted in the media.

Williams and Behar Speak at FDA Workshop on eCigarettes and Public Health

Two students working in Prof. Prue Talbot's laboratory, Monique Williams (ETOX Ph.D. student on left of photo) and Rachel Behar (CMDB Ph.D. student on right) were invited to speak in a recent workshop and webinar sponsored by the FDA focusing on electronic cigarettes and public health.  Monique spoke about tin and other metals found in the ecigarette aerosols and Rachel spoke about the cytotoxicity of cinnamon flavorings in the refill fluids.  Our congratulations to Monique and Rachel for this nice recognition.  More information can be found at the Inside UCR website.  [The above photo is also from the article.]

Update:  An article on the Monique's and Rachel's participation in the FDA webinar was also published in the Press Enterprise, Riverside's newspaper.  The article can be found here
