Last Friday evening Oct. 13, the director of the Environmental Toxicology Graduate Program, Yinsheng Wang and his wife Shuli, hosted the annual fall social at their house.  It was an enjoyable evening with with approximately 30-40  students and faculty in attendance.  Our thanks to Yinsheng and Shuli for hosting the dinner.  Below are pictures from the event.

Environmental Health Position at Exponent.

I received the following position notice in a recent email. 

The consulting firm Exponent is looking to hire an Environmental Health Scientist for one of its two SF Bay Area offices (Oakland or Menlo Park, CA). The position is open to individuals with a PhD (or expecting to be awarded the PhD between now and spring/summer of 2018) and 0-2 years of experience. In the News: The Research of Frances Sladek

The research of Frances Sladek, faculty member in the Department of Molecular, Cell and Systems Biology, and an ETOX faculty member, was recently featured in UCR Today.  Frances working with Poonam Deol and other members of her research group have shown that consumption of genetically modified soybean oil results in less obesity and insulin resistance but causes enlarged livers and liver dysfunction.  The article and more information can be found here.  Our congratulations to Frances and Poonam for this recognition of their research. 

In the News: Manuela Martins-Green's Research

The research of Manuela Martins-Green, faculty member in the Department of Molecular, Cell and Systems Biology, and an ETOX faculty member, was recently featured in UCR Today.  Manuela and her research group have shown that liver damage induced by third-hand cigarette smoke in mice can be seen within a month of exposure and increases with continued exposure.  The article and more information can be found here.  Our congratulations to Manuela for this recognition of her research.
