Yichong Fan, an ETOX graduate student, working with Huiwing Ai, an ETOX faculty member have recently published an article entitled, “Monitoring thioredoxin redox with a genetically encoded red fluorescent biosensor,” in Nature Chemical Biology. Their work was featured in a Inside UCR news feature. The article describes the researchers work in converting "a naturally occurring fluorescent protein from corals into a biosensor that can be used to monitor the cellular thioredoxin (Trx) system, which is a promising target for cancer therapy".
