American College of Toxicology Graduate Fellowship Opportunity


The American College of Toxicology is offering three fellowships to graduate students in approved toxicology programs in North America.  The fellowships are for two years and pay $5000 per year and require: "1) Successful acceptance into PhD Program (a two-year award) or in final year of a terminal master's program (a one-year award); 2) Presentation at ACT's Annual Meeting (meeting registration fees will be waived) in November displaying a poster summarizing a graduate project in the field of toxicology; 3) Joining ACT as a student member (Student membership is free, and it is not a requirement to be an ACT member at the time of application.); and 4) Submit a 250-word abstract online using the Annual Meeting abstract system."  More information and the application information can be found here.  The deadline is May 1.  The 2017 annual meeting will be held on Palm Springs on Nov. 5-8.

Larive to serve as interim Provost at UCR


Cindy Larive, professor in the Department of Chemistry, ETOX faculty member and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, has been appointed to serve as interim Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor at UCR.  The Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor works directly with the Chancellor and is charge of the day-to-day operations of the University.  Our congratulations to Cindy for this honor and our appreciation to her for taking on this task.  A news article on the appointment can be found here.
